Flying high...

I don't even know this little boys name, but I can see from the pictures that this is one happy little guy. You see, his Grandpa bought the airplane that Jeremy's family made. This was no ordinary airplane, it won Grand Champion at the Oshkosh air show. I had the privelage of taking several flights in it, in fact, the first time I ever flew in an airplane was in this airplane. Words can't describe this beautiful masterpiece. A few years after Jeremy's Dad passed away, Jeremy and his Mom decided it was time to find a new home for the airplane. Someone who would fly the plane like it was meant to be flown. After several months and several prospective buyers, Jeremy and his Mom decided to sell the plane to Steve Runge. Steve lives in an airplane community. Much like some build their houses around a golf course, Steve's house is built around a private runway. There is much comfort knowing this man is taking care of the airplane the way Jeremy's Dad did. He has taken the airplane to Detroit, North Carolina, and Iron Mountain, MI, just to name a few. His Grandson, 8 years old, flew the cozy for the first time this year. He wrote, "as you can see, it is hard to wipe the smile off his face." Like most things I put on this blog, I am sharing this because it is something I don't ever want to forget.
This is a picture of Jeremy's Dad and Mom in front of the airplane. The picture was taken at the Oshkosh Air show in August 2001. Just days before Tim passed away.

4:43 am

What is so magical about that number? When you figure it out, let me know too. Lately, Landon has been waking up at about that same time EVERY morning. Us, wanting our sleep we just pull him into our bed and all fall back asleep. After about a week, I decided this was becoming a habit and needed to stop. So, we spent forty five minutes in Landon's room the other morning trying to convince him that it was ok to go back to sleep in his bed. This morning was a little better. Again, he woke up at 4:43 am. Cried, cried, cried. This time I went into his room, gave him a big hug and put him back down. He didn't object. I on the other hand could not fall asleep. So, on to the treadmill I go! Can't wait to see what daylight savings time does!

Our weekend...

Yesterday, we were supposed to host our first annual Kids Halloween Party. We invited a bunch of our friends and their children to come dressed in costume. I had games lined up, yummy food and lots of treats. There has been a lot of sickness going around area schools, and Landon has had a cold all week. Getting a little paranoid, we decided to cancel the party to avoid spreading germs. I was bummed, but think that it was for the better. Now, to flu shot or not to flu shot?
Because the party was cancelled we had some free time. Landon, myself and Auntie Jo Jo tagged along with Grandma Debbie to the craft show at the UNI dome. It's always fun to see what kind of crafts there will be. We did some other shopping and Landon as always was a great little shopper! Then it was back home to watch the Hawks Game. That was something else!!
Today was cleaning, laundry and grocery shopping. Back to work tomorrow!

Pumpkin carving

This weekend, Brooke, Jon and Roscoe stayed at our house. We had such a fun time as always! Today my sister came over and the three of us carved pumpkins. It has been years since I carved a pumpkin - it was such a fun time! Unfortunately, Landon didn't want much to do with the process, he is still feeling sick today. My niece Eryn stopped in for a little bit and helped out. Don't they look so fun!

Busy Saturday

Once again, another busy Saturday I went shopping with the girls, Mindy and Becky. We had such a good time, and I got some great Christmas and birthday presents. Now I just need to hang on to them and not give them out before Christmas and birthdays! Landon hung out with his Auntie Jo Jo and cousins Eryn and Nolan. He must have had a good time because he was awfully tired last night. He is not feeling the best, not sure if he is catching another cold or teething some more. And, Jer hosted his jeep club. They had a really good time and are still working on trails today.

Meeting Finn & Essay (oh yeh, and Stephen and Vicki too)

On Friday, Jeremy and I took off work to go to Cedar Falls. Jeremy's Aunt Vicki, Uncle Stephen and Uncle Jack were all back to visit. It was so nice to see them, although our visit was far too short. Landon (as well as I) loved meeting Vicki and Stephen's German Shepherd's Finn and Essay. I hope we don't wait another 6 years to see them again!

SURPRISE!! Happy 60th Birthday Dad!!

On Saturday night, we held a surprise party for my Dad at the Calmar Fire Station. We had been nervous all week that someone might let it slip. He had no idea, and was so surprised! It was a fun time. Above is the video of him walking in, and below are various pictures from the party!

From one addiction to another

Jeremy and I have been talking about getting rid of Landon's pacifier, but we hadn't set about on a plan just yet. Landon really only had his noi noi when he was napping and at bedtime. It seemed that one night this past week he fell asleep without asking for it, so we just kind of forgot about it. Now when he asks for it, I divert his attention to something else, and he is ok with that. There have been some times that he has been upset and it would have been easier to just give it to him, but he didn't need it.

With that said, we have gone from being dependant on his noi noi to now being in LOVE with his stuffed german shepherd dog. When he refers to this particular dog, it sounds like he is saying "buttons," so that is now the dogs name. This dog is traveling everywhere with Landon now. The photo above is of us getting ready to go to Walmart yesterday morning. Once again, he spotted his boots and insisted on wearing them. So yes, we went to Walmart with the rain golashes on and carrying buttons.

All about Animals!

At 22 months old, Landon LOVES animals. I found this book for him and it is perfect. He does so well with naming most of the animals. Landon loves to look at any animal up close. He loves watching the deer and turkey in our yard, but cries when they leave. Thank goodness for videos on you tube! Also, I took my own footage of the deer in our yard. Landon loves to watch it over, and over, and over!

Fire truck parade

Tonight we attended a fire truck parade in Calmar. The Calmar Fire Department decided to kick of fire prevention week by inviting area fire departments to bring a few of their trucks over for a night time lights parade. It was so cute and we had such a fun time looking at all the lights and different trucks.

Elke are you cold?

Landon decided that Elke needed his blanket this morning so he covered her up. What a great dog Elke is, she just layed there and enjoyed every minute of the attention!
