Halloween - Part I

Happy Halloween!  We really didn't do much trick or treating, but did manage to see a few of our favorite people.  A big thank you goes out to Aunt Cathy, who came through with a costume for Asher.  In case you didn't already read about it, you can check out his  wardrobe malfunction here.  So without further ado, here are my dragon and elephant!

And, here are a few snapshots from this morning.  The boys were dressed up in their Halloween attire.

Wardrobe malfunction

I bought Asher's Halloween costume a month and a half ago and didn't anticipate him growing this fast.  Needless to say, his Halloween costume does not fit him.
So, take a good look, because Asher will not have a costume for Halloween.  Don't worry, he has plenty of Halloween clothing he can choose from, just no costume.  Sorry your first Halloween was a bust buddy.  I'll make it up to you next year.

Cereal time

First off, yes, we are still alive.  This may be the longest blogging break that I've taken, so thanks for bearing with me.  A few things have happened this past week, so let's recap.
  1. I had a sick little boy.  Nothing major, but enough to go to the Dr. twice in two days.  Asher's cold was really getting to him and I was getting nervous about his breathing.  I was already giving him nebulizer treatments, but they weren't working.  Dr. Schilling changed the treatment and also prescribed prednisone to give his lungs a boost.  We had to go back for a recheck the next day to make sure his breathing was better (which it was), and we go back again tomorrow for another recheck.
  2. Being a full-time working, momma of two, wife, chef, housekeeper has kicked my butt.
  3. Getting to more fun things, I started feeding Asher cereal last night.
Now that Asher is feeling a little better, we decided it was time to start him on cereal.  We decided this because he will be four months next week and he is already 17 pounds 10 ounces.  Don't adjust your monitor, you read that right.  My future football player is an armful and he seems to be hungry all the time!
It went ok.  Despite having a bottle an hour before attempting cereal, he was already hungry again, and couldn't eat the cereal fast enough.  He started getting a little frustrated, so we would take a few bites of cereal, take a few drinks of baba, and repeat the process over and over.
Tonight was kind of the same story.  He just wanted his baba because I think he thinks that's just so much easier.
I'm sure it won't be long and this little big guy will be eating table food before you know it.

Cold weather gear

Brrr...This week has definitely brought some cooler temperatures.  With frost covering the ground this morning, and high temps only expected to hit the mid 40's, it was time to search out some cold weather gear.  Landon fell in love with his puppy dog hat he found in this years stash.  How could you not fall in love with this?

Conversation with God

As we were backing out of the garage this morning Landon says to me, "Mommy, I told God that I want it to stop raining."  I asked, "Landon, why do you want it to stop raining?"  Landon replied, "Because I want to play outside today."

Just checking my email

What a silly dog!

Horses and Firetrucks

Sunday was such a beautiful day.  After church and a few errands, we had the pleasure of having my Uncle John's trail ride come past our house and go on some of the trails.
I always look forward to seeing all the pretty horses come by.  These two little girls were adorable on their horse.
Even Grandma Debbie was on the ride!
After the horses disappeared into the woods, it was time for the boys to take a nap.  Thankfully, that was a success, because we had more plans for the evening.  The Calmar Fire Department was hosting a chili supper and their annual fire truck parade.  It was also my Mom's birthday, so we headed to Calmar.
The soup was delicious and the parade was as fun as always.  Lots of lights!
They boys hung in there pretty good.  They were both starting to get tired, but enjoyed the parade from the stroller.
It would be nice if this weather would continue for a while.  We've been fortunate to have such fantastic weather for harvesting and enjoying the outdoors.

Asher cooing

Asher is changing so much.  At this point, it doesn't matter what you say or even if you are talking to him or someone else, he is all smiles.  Such a happy baby!

Asher is 3 months old

Three months old already...Where did the time go?

Honestly, everyday is more fun than the last.  I love seeing Asher's personality start to shine through.  Asher is so calm and mellow, and he loves to sleep!  Asher continues to sleep in his crib really well.  He goes down around 7:30 pm, and I have to wake him at 6:30 am.  If it's on the weekend and I can let him sleep, he will sleep until 7:30 am.
I'm not sure what Asher weighs, but I know he loves to eat.  I recently started giving him a little cereal around supper time, because he was showing me signs he was ready for a little something more.  He does extremely well eating cereal and seems to really enjoy it.
I can't tell you what a blessing this little guy is.  He is the perfect fit to our family!  Looking forward to the next three months!

Are you ready for some football

On Sunday, we were at Aunt Jo Jo's and Uncle Mike's to watch them open their wedding gifts.  Before they got started, the boys took some time to play a little football outside.
This picture cracks me up.  Landon's hands are wide open, yet the ball is hitting his stomach!

Mr. & Mrs. Nelson

Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Nelson!

On Saturday, my baby sister got MARRIED!!  It was such a beautiful day, and I am so sad it's over.  The whole day, not to mention, the whole weekend went by way too quickly.  I was so busy most of the day, and hardly took any pictures, but I guess that's why they hire photographers!  Anyway, here are a few photos I snapped during the day.

Jodi looked amazingly beautiful!  Here she is as calm as can be getting ready.
Finally, a family photo.  This may be our first one since Asher was born.
Funny story, Landon walked down the isle, stood until he was supposed to, and then went to sit with Grandma and Grandpa.  During the middle of the ceremony, Landon stood up and walked towards me.  I was standing up thinking, "Oh no."  My parents couldn't grab him, because he was up and walking before anybody knew it.  Landon came up to me and said, "Mom, I need a tissue."  I had several in my hand, handed one to him, and he sat back down.  Whew...Looking back, it was super cute.
Landon and Jeremy.  Don't they look handsome!  Jeremy was an usher, and Landon was a ring bearer.  I wasn't so sure Landon was going to pull it off, but he did.  Lots and lots and lots of bribery just seconds before the big moment.
Me and Asher.  I had the absolute honor of serving as the matron-of-honor to my sister.  And Asher, well, he just got to look cute. ;)
There is a super cute little bow-tie hiding underneath all those chins!
And Jeremy and I.  This was as the night went on.  The tie came off, the earrings came out and the shoes were definitely off!
A BIG congratulations to Mike & Jodi!  We love you so much and were so honored we got to be part of your special day!  As I said in my speech, "Years from now, may you look back on your wedding day and say it was the day you loved each other the least."  We love you!!!
